Did Red Dead Redemption 2s Karen Jones Die From Alcoholism

Did Red Dead Redemption 2's Karen Jones Die From Alcoholism?

Speculation Surrounding Karen's Fate

Following the Van der Linde gang's downfall, the fate of Karen Jones, one of the gang's members, remained a mystery. In a letter to John Marston, Arthur Morgan speculates that Karen may have succumbed to alcohol abuse, writing, "I reckon she drank herself to death."

Evidence of Karen's Alcoholism

Throughout the game, there are indications of Karen's struggles with alcohol. During a mission where the gang robs a bank, Karen is seen drinking heavily and openly admits her addiction to Arthur. Additionally, in camp, she often appears intoxicated and withdrawn, spending her time alone or drinking by the fire.

Karen's Transformation

At the beginning of the game, Karen is portrayed as a vibrant and active member of the gang, participating in bank robberies and offering advice to Arthur. However, as the story progresses and the gang faces increasing adversity, Karen's demeanor changes drastically. She becomes withdrawn, pessimistic, and more reliant on alcohol.

Absence of a Grave

Another piece of evidence that supports the theory that Karen died from alcoholism is the absence of a grave for her at the end of the game. While all the other deceased gang members have gravesites, Karen's remains are nowhere to be found.
